SMSishing occurs when you receive an SMS message on your phone that is purportedly sent from a reputable source, such as your bank, asking for personal details. The message can have you call a number listed in the SMS message or clicking on a link for smartphones. |
Typically the cybercriminals will try to get you to hand over your card details including your PIN. With the information the cybercriminals obtain, they will then try to either make a fraudulent card and or make online transactions.
To avoid falling victim to a SMSishing scam know that Jonah Bank of Wyoming WILL NEVER Send you a request to call via SMS and WILL NEVER ASK for your PIN or card number over the phone.
